Casa dei Bambini Foundation School is a Montessori preschool for two to five year old children. The school is located at 333 River Road, Christchurch, New Zealand.
The name "Casa dei Bambini" is Italian for "The Childrens' House" (Dr Montessori was Italian). We use the term 'Foundation School' because during the stage when children attend Casa dei Bambini the concepts introduced become the building blocks of the child's life-long learning.
The philosophical foundation of the Montessori approach is based on the understanding that education is a process. In order to develop a child's physical, intellectual and spiritual being to the fullest, children must have the freedom to develop in an environment that has been prepared and designed specifically for the purposes of achieving concentration, exploration and understanding.
Casa dei Bambini emphasizes the child, basing its philosophy on respect for the child's personality and trust in the inner potential of each child. Children are allowed time and space to make their own discoveries. Each child is supported to learn at their own pace and in their own way.
We are committed to supporting parents and families in the education of their children. Our focus is one hundred percent curriculum and learning. To facilitate this children attend regular classes at regular intervals, ensuring a consistent pattern through which enthusiasm for learning, creativity, independence, concentration and a respect for others and the world around them are fostered.
